Jaydens Place (Vintage Master), four days after winning a three-mile race at St. Joseph de Lepage, scored in his Bay Derby elimination at Nouvelle on Wednesday (Jul. 27).

The nine-year-old sat last in the field of five as Mickeymakesomespeed (Michel Allard), coming off a record-breaking performance on the same St. Joseph de Lepage card, took them to the quarter in :28. Michel Audet tipped Jaydens Place second-over while pacing to the half in :58.1 and rolled three-wide as Mickeymakesomespeed kicked away by four lengths to three-quarters in 1:28.

Jaydens Place struck the front on the final turn as he overwhelmed the tired and drifting leader. He then thundered home to win by a length-and-a-half in 1:59 over the re-rallying Mickeymakesomespeed and Disneyman (Maxim Gaudrealt).

Gaudreault lodged a claim of foul on Allard for action on the last turn, and the judges accordingly disqualified Mickeymakesomespeed from second to third. Disneyman was promoted to place. The judges disallowed an objection made by Allard against Audet and Jaydens Place.

Audet trains Jaydens Place, who has now won 19 of his 164 lifetime appearances and earned $238,449. Francois Morin of Beauceville owns the gelding.

Ninoscredit (Up The Credit) motored to the lead with a first-up move at the half and won the first elimination in 1:58.4 for Joel Gagnon. Keystone Prestige (Denis Audet) finished second. Spectrum Seelster (Gaudreault) was third.

Ninoscredit’s win was his 29th in 156 career tries. The nine-year-old has earned $108,220. Nathalie Migneault trains him and co-owns with Eric Dechamplain. Both are residents of Saint-Donat.

Denis Audet won four of the day’s eight races.

The Bay Derby final and consolation are set for Saturday, Jul. 30. First post at the Quebec oval will be 1:00 p.m. EDT. The race was conceived to encourage Atlantic Canada owners to experience Quebec racing with bonuses for any entrants from the Maritimes. No horses in the eliminations shipped from the east coast.
