Winning Bones (Monkey Bones) is living up to his name of late and will be vying for his third harness racing win on-end when he contests the Fahey Fence Hire Handicap Trot (2600m) at Addington Raceway on Friday night (Aug. 5).
Trainer-driver Matthew Williamson has been thrilled with the way the son of Monkey Bones has been going but is wary of the step up in grade this week.
āBecause of the two wins he has jumped in grade a lot so it is going to be very hard for him in that field, but he is racing great,ā Williamson said.
āI would be happy if he can sneak into the top four there because it is a good field.ā
Williamson will also have a two-pronged attack in the First Direct Taxis Mobile Pace (1980m) with R K Finn (Grinfromeartoear) and Boarding Call (American Ideal).
The North Otago horseman will take the reins behind last start runner-up Boarding Call while brother Brad will drive R K Finn, who won two starts back but bypassed racing last week as a result of a foot abscess.
āR K Finn had a foot abscess, that is why he was scratched last week,ā Williamson said.
āHe has missed a bit of work so heās just on the short side a little bit, but he had been racing well prior.
āBoarding Call went super last week. It is just the second line draw on where she ends up, but I can definitely see her being an eachway chance on the way that she went last week.ā
Williamson will also have a few outside drives, including last start winner Tiger Taylor (Art Major) in the Avon City Ford Mobile Pace (1980m) and Bondi Lustre (Sunshine Beach) in the Lamb And Hayward Pace (2000m).
āTiger Taylor should be a good chance as long as she can get a nice run from there (2). If she happened to be in the trail again you would say she would be very hard to beat,ā Williamson said.
āBondi Lustre has been racing really well without much luck and I think they will be hard to beat as well.ā
Looking ahead to Sunday, Williamson will head back to Addington Raceway with Wolfenstein (Auckland Reactor) in the King Of Swing Standing At Cobbity Equine Mobile Pace (1980m).
āWolfenstein went well last start (when runner-up),ā Williamson said. āThe wide draw is just the bugbear with him. Touchwood he seems to be turning his form around again and he is good enough to be in that if he gets a nice run.ā
