Northfield, OH — MGM Northfield Park’s premier harness racing event of the season, the $300,000 Carl Milstein Memorial for three-year-old pacers, goes to the gate this Saturday night as the anchor leg (Race 10) of a $20,000 Guaranteed All Stakes Pick 5.
The sequence starts with a pair of $55,000 divisions of the Ohio Sires Stakes for three-year-old colt trotters (races 6 & 7) and includes two $100,000 Invitationals for top veteran Ohio-sired campaigners.
The Tom Aldrich President’s Trot (Race 8) is a battle of the sexes, headlined by top stakes stalwart It’s Academic (Uncle Peter), a winner of $938,046 in his career, versus two top mares from the barn of trainer Virgil Morgan, Jr. – 2021 Ohio Sires Stakes Champion Herculisa (My Mvp) and Open campaigner Refined (Uncle Peter).
Race 9 is the Myron Charna President’s Pace, featuring a pair of million-dollar earners, Charlie May (Mcardle) and Ocean Rock (Rockin Amadeus). Charlie May won the 2021 edition of the Carl Milstein Memorial, among other stakes triumph in his sophomore campaign, while Ocean Rock was the 2021 Breeders Crown Open Pace champ.
The $300,000 Carl Milstein Memorial (Race 10) completes the sequence and is headlined by Adios winner Bythemissal from the Ron Burke Stable. The Ohio-sired son of Downbytheseaside will try to make it back-to-back wins in the Milstein for Buckeye breds, on the heels of Charlie May’s triumph last season.
The $20,000 Guaranteed Pick 5 is a $1-base wager featuring a low 14% takeout. Free PP’s for the $20,000 Guaranteed Pick 5 (starts in Race 6), the $15,000 Guaranteed $1 late Pick 4 (starts in Race 11) and the $15,000 Guaranteed 20-cent Super High Five (race 13) can be found under the handicapping tab on ustrotting.com.
