Party Boy squeezes through for victory

Party Boy (Rock N Roll Heaven, Michael Kimelman) won the $7,900 featured harness racing pace at Vernon Downs on Saturday (Aug 20).

Northern Rein (Joe Nassimos) was first to the quarter in :27.4.  Warrawee Unique (Barton Dalious) took over control heading down the backstretch.  He was first to the half in :57.0.  Wind Blast (Josh Kinney) was first to make a move as they headed around the final turn.  Warrawee Unique was first to three-quarters in 1:24.1.

As they made the turn for home Northern Rein popped the pocket and went to the outside.  That gave Party Boy ($21.40) an opening on the inside and he squeezed through and went right on by to win in 1:52.3.  Warrawee Unique had to settle for second.  Northern Rein finished third.

Party Boy is an 8-year-old gelding.  He is owned by Sarah Kimelman and trained by Michael Kilmelman.  He won for the second time this season and now owns 17 career victories.

PARTY BOY REPLAY

Frank Affrunti drove three winners on the card.  Leon Bailey, Steeven Genois, and Barton Dalious each had driving doubles.  Chip Zombick and Kerin Warner each had training doubles.
