The Garrard’s Redcliffe Yearling Sale was provided with a gigantic boost with the results of last Saturday night’s Albion Park feature meeting.
For Real Life (For A Reason-Shes Elegant), a graduate of the 2021 Garrard’s Redcliffe sale, led from end-to-end to capture the Group 1 $103,990 QBred Triad Final for two-year-old colts and geldings in a career-best 1:55.2.
Bred by Brisbane hobby breeder Aaron Taaffe and his fiancée Alyce Welling, For Real Life was knocked down to Clarendon horseman Trent Dawson for $18,500. He has now won $93,060 from three wins and three placings in nine starts.
Furthermore, Sweet Lombo (Sweet Lou-Lara June Lombo), who was sold for $20,000 at the 2019 Redcliffe auction, won the opening event to lift his earnings to just shy of $50,000.
The gelding was bred by Toowoomba enthusiast Alan Brown and is raced by Beverley Oberthur, a client of Donny Smith’s Redcliffe barn.
