King Tiger, a three-year-old by harness racing Inter Dominion champion and Horse of the Year Tiger Tara, showed ability as a two-year-old last season winning at Newcastle in 1:53.9 at his only start.
But the Tiger Tara colt has proved himself to some purpose in his three-year-old racing, and he topped it off by winning the $20,400 Bankstown Derby on Thursday night (Aug. 25).
It was his fifth success from six starts for the season and his mile rate of 1:59.9 for 2140 metres was put up when he had nothing in his favour, drawing the back row in a field of eight and having to sit parked throughout. He is a very good youngster.
The Kevin Pizzuto bred, owned and trained colt is one of the first small crop of Tiger Tara, who is standing this season at Medowie Lodge, Newcastle of popular horseman Darren Reay.
KING TIGER REPLAY
Tiger Tara will stand alongside the former NZ and Australian 2YO Colt of the Year Follow The Stars, who is enjoying another great season with his progeny around the country.
The Art Major horse has left 48 individual winners and progeny earnings of $750,000 already in 2022.
The promising three-year-old filly See The World, a winner for the sixth time at Narrogin, and Our Holla Star (Mildura) were among recent winners sired by Follow The Stars.
