East Rutherford, NJ – The Meadowlands will host the inaugural New Jersey Classic Series for Jersey-sired 3-year-old harness racing trotting fillies and colts with eliminations scheduled for Friday, September 2.
Only four colts were entered in the “A” division of the colt & gelding stake and eight fillies in the “A” division for the fairer sex, effectively eliminating the need for elimination races. All those entered will instead go directly into the finals on Friday, September 9.
The “B” level fared slightly better with 13 declared for the colt & gelding races and a dozen for the filly race. The conditions require that byes be offered (and were accepted by) the top 2022 money winners entered. There will be a single elimination race for each of those stakes to get the number down to the required ten starters in the September 9 finals.
The 2-year-old New Jersey Classic Series begins next week with A & B division eliminations for both the pacing and trotting fillies on Thursday, September 8 and the pacing and trotting colts on Friday, September 9. All 2-year-old finals will be raced on Friday, September 16.
Keep an eye on the upcoming condition sheets for details.
The box for this weekend at The Meadowlands is painfully short without the number of expected elimination races and remains open to entries for the overnights should you desire to race.
