SUMMERSIDE, PE – Screen Test (Vertical Horizon) put the finishing touches on a Corey MacPherson four-bagger on a special Tuesday evening (Aug. 30) harness racing program at Red Shores at the Summerside Raceway.
The Ron Gass trainee led at every call in the $3,000 race 10 feature delivering on his 2-5 post time odds. MacPherson steered Screen Test through splits of 27.3, 57.3, 1:27.1 and 1:55.3 to win by three-lengths over Hunger Pangs (Driven by Ken Murphy) and Coasttocoastshark (Devon Wallace).
Kickin Horse Stable of York shares ownership of the 35-time winner with William Andrew of Calgary, Alta.
MacPherson also hit the wire first with Positive Art in a new career best of 1:57.4 for the nine-year-old son of Major In Art owned and trained by Bing Easter. The Cornwall driver’s other wins came aboard the Phil Sizer trained duo of His Boy Elroy in 1:55.4 and Brookdale Maggie in 1:58.
Earl Watts took control of the Red Shores Summerside training standings with a pair of winners to put him at 11 victories on the year at the Western track. Watts helped driver David Dowling close the gap in the top driver standings as they won with Starshipsalicia in 1:58.4 and Howmac Agustus in 1:57.2. Dowling also won with newcomer Azure Beach in 2:01 for trainer Darla MacEachern for the driving triple.
