Scintillating speed and a perfectly timed winning run saw Braeview Kelly (Bettor’s Delight) breakthrough for deserved harness racing stakes-race success in the A$30,000 Group Three Norms Daughter Ladyship Stakes (1609m) at Menangle on Saturday night.
The four-year-old led home a quinella of NZB Standardbred graduates when she powered out of the pack to nab her Group One-winning stablemate Town Echo(NZ) (Bettor’s Delight) in a thrilling finish.
BRAEVIEW KELLY REPLAY
Braeview Kelly was purchased by Paul and Mandy Pierce of Braeview for $27,500 when she was offered by breeder-vendors Millwood Farm at the 2019 Christchurch Yearling Sale.
The mare put together an impressive record in New Zealand for the Pierces, winning seven races and running fourths at Group One level in both the Nevele R Fillies Series Final and the New Zealand Oaks.
Braeview Kelly has since headed to Sydney where she has produced brilliant form for Jack Trainor’s stable.
The four-year-old started favourite in Saturday night’s mares feature after winning three of her four starts in Australia.
Getting well off the speed wasn’t enough to stop Braeview Kelly from making it five from five as she burst home from second last to score with Trainor doing the driving.
Notching a sizzling 1.50.9 winning time and securing a Group Three victory are sure to add significant value to Braeview Kelly when she is ready to enter the broodmare paddock.
Town Echo hit the lead early in the run home and fought bravely for a good second, just half a head behind her stablemate.
The NZB Standardbred graduate was having her first start since her win in the $A100,000 Group One The Golden Girl (1660m) at Albion Park in July.
New Zealand-breds absolutely dominated racing Menangle on Saturday night, winning seven of eight races.
Of those seven winners, three were of age to have been sold at NZB Standardbred’s National Yearling Sale established in 2019, and all three winners were NZB Standardbred graduates.
Regal Attire (NZ) (Muscle Hill) and Port Au Prince (NZ) (Somebeachsomewhere) both joined Braeview Kelly in the Menangle winner’s circle on the big night for New Zealand-bred horses.
