Warrawee Needy’s progeny top $1 million

Harness racing’s former world mile record holder Warrawee Needy (1:46.8) has topped the million dollar mark in progeny earnings in Australia.

From only three crops racing, the American horse has sired the winners of $1,037,208 as at September 23.

He has left 40 individual winners from 61 starters with average per starter of $17,003.

Warrawee Needy’’s first crop of 47 foals has produced 36 starters for 24 winners – more than a 50 percent winners-to-foal strike rate.

While his second crop of 22 live foals has resulted in 16 starters, of which 12 have been successful.

Among the best performers sired by Warrawee Needy have been the dual Group winner Uncle Shank 1:50.4 ($132,393), the NSW Breeders Challenge True Blue 2YO Final winners Ideal In Dreams and Warrawee Drinking, the Group 3 winner Im So Needy and The Mountain (10 wins).

In North America, Warrawee Needy has sired the winners of $1.3 million with 11 in the 1:55 list and 28 in 2:00 from only 86 foals.

Warrawee Needy is standing this season at the new Wingate Farm in the NSW Riverina, the former Yirribee Pacing Stud who imported the horse from America.
