Ontario Sires Stakes Grassroots winner One Last Wish (Bettors Delight) bounced back from her poor showing in the series semi-final with a career-best win at Woodbine Mohawk Park on Thursday (Sep. 29).

One Last Wish hits the line a winner

The filly created a Mohawk Park rarity as she secured the lead from post one for Paul MacDonell. She was on top through :27, :55.3, and 1:23.1 fractions, stopping the clock in 1:52.3 while up by two-and-a-quarter lengths over a throng of rivals. Blue Glamber (Jonathan Drury) nipped Chakka (James MacDonald) for place.

ONE LAST WISH REPLAY

One Last Wish is a homebred for Brian Legge of Toronto and David Legge of Ajax. Ken Sucee trains the two-year-old, who is now three-for-10 with $37,736 in earnings, for the duo.

The race was for two-year-old fillies who missed the Grassroots final. Verdun (Bettors Delight) took a contest of the same condition for colts and geldings earlier on the card, flying down the lane to score in 1:52.3 under the guidance of Louis-Philippe Roy. Jean Tourigny trains the colt for owner/breeder Roland Trudel of Becancour.

Woodbine Mohawk Park hosts the final Ontario Sires Stake Gold preliminary leg for sophomore pacing males on Friday, Sep. 30. Racing will begin at 7:00 p.m. EDT.
