SUMMERSIDE, PE – His Boy Elroy (Jeremes Jet) went unchallenged for every step of the Tuesday (Oct. 4) evening harness racing feature at Red Shores at the Summerside Raceway to maintain Ken Murphy’s lead in the driving standings.
Murphy pushed forward at the start in the $3,300 Preferred 2 pace with the Phil Sizer trained His Boy Elroy and controlled every fraction through splits of 28.3, 58.4, 1:28.1 and 1:56.1. Burn out Hanover (Brady Sweet) was second ahead of Nogreatmischief (Walter Cheverie). Doug Polley co-owns the winning pacer with Gordon McComb.
Murphy scored a driving triple on the night to pull two races ahead of David Dowling in the driving standings. Murphy also won with the Allan Gregory trained duo of Dylan Sam (Sweet Lou, 1:57.1) and The Yingyang (Thinking Out Loud, 2:00).
Jks Pilot (Jk Endofanera) was the fastest winner on the night with a 1:54.3 front-end score for trainer Jeff Holmes and owner Hardcore Racing of Belfast. Corey MacPherson was in the race bike for the victory.
Nannie Bernice won race 7 in 1:57.4 with John Davidson in the bike for trainer Janice Hubbard for the two-year-old Artspeak filly’s fifth straight win.
Driver Jason Hughes and trainer Ralph Sweet teamed up for a pair of winners with Catchme If Lou Can (Sweet Lou, 1:56.1) and Gringo Star (Western Paradise, 1:58.1).
The PEI Matinee Finals were also held during the program. The D Division championship winner was Dumas Walker and driver Myles Heffernan Jr while R ES Nancy won the C division championship for driver Dana Sweet. The next round of Matinee finals will be held Thursday at Red Shores Charlottetown.
