Black Tie Bash (Chapter Seven) reversed last week’s result in convincing fashion with an open-length harness racing victory in the Rideau Carleton Raceway Preferred Handicap Trot on Thursday (Oct. 6).
After travelling fifth through the first-quarter in :27.3, Black Tie Bash (Robert Shepherd) swung out to take over the first-up mandate from last week’s winner, Raising Rusty (Stephane Pouliot). Black Tie Bash kicked into gear just past the half in :56.3 and blew by pacesetter Duke Lavictoire (Jacques Beaudoin) as they hit three-quarters in 1:25.
Black Tie Bash then cruised to victory under minimal urging in 1:54.4.
Raising Rusty chased the winner around the final turn but was outpaced and finished second by three-and-three-quarter lengths. Duke Lavictoire held third.
BLACK TIE BASH REPLAY
Black Tie Bash has won eight Preferred Handicaps at the track this season and is now 14-for-57 lifetime with $132,258 in earnings. Isabelle Darveau trains the four-year-old gelding for Shepherd, who owns.
Rideau Carleton Raceway will race again on Sunday, Oct. 9.
