Shark Week (Vertical Horizon) won his third Preferred in his past four harness racing starts in the Saturday (Oct. 8) edition at Century Downs.
Regular reinsman Michael Hennessy ordered him to circle the leader from second just after hitting the quarter in :26.2. The stallion then cut the half-mile split of :55.2 and tangled with the first-up Icy Blue Scooter (Nathan Sobey) to three-quarters in 1:24.
Shark Week repelled that rival as they rounded the last turn and soared clear to a three-and-three-quarter-length score in 1:52.2.
Icy Blue Scooter took second. Bonus Round (David Kelly) held off Crackle N Burn (Kelly Hoerdt) for third.
SHARK WEEK REPLAY
Shark Week, trained and co-owned by Rodney Hennessy, has won 15 of 45 lifetime tries. The four-year-old was an Alberta Sires Stakes contender at two and three and has earned $165,735 for owners Hennessy and Lorne Duffield of Edmonton.
Hennessyās hat trick was the top driving performance of the day.
Century Downs is set to race again on Friday, Oct. 14.
