Talented Two Year Old Trotter Flying Without Wings (Pegasus Spur) will commence his harness racing career at Ascot Park on Sunday (Oct. 23).
Trained by Nathan Williamson, to date heās won three of his four workouts, and has won his only trial.
āItās a nice quality maiden field. He comes in light on experience, but heās got his share of ability.
What he does on Sunday, heāll improve on. He trotted off good from the mobile at the workouts so I donāt think itāll be an issue. He wanted to come off there smartly, so I imagine heāll to able to get himself handy from his draw (6),ā Nathan said.
Flying Without Wings was bought by Riverton Fisherman Neville Cleaver as a weanling from Winton breeder Michelle Caig.
Heās out of the Sundon mare Sun Mist whoās left the winners of seventy five races, with Sonofearl her best, taking out twenty two. Other winners from the family include Pretty Sunday (15), Stuey D (12) and Rosemma (10). Sun Mist is out of champion trotting mare Merinai which won nineteen races including a Dominion Handicap and Rowe Cup.
Itās likely that Phil Wiliamsonās two year old trotting fillies Aroha Kenny (Love You) and Kennyās Charm (Muscle Mass) will be Flying Without Wingsā main rivals.
Aroha Kenny has raced twice for two seconds at Addington behind quality runners Nazareth and High Energy.
āSheās a nice filly. Itās ended up being a nice maiden race and I donāt think itāll be that easy, but sheās got a bit of quality about her. Sheās trained on well, but I know Nath thinks a bit of his one. This filly hasnāt shown a lot of speed off the gate, but sheās got good speed at the other end and thatās where you want it,ā Phil said.
Kennyās Charm is on debut. She ran in three trials over March and April but hasnāt been sighted at any trials or workouts this preparation.
āSheās ready enough to race. I just liked the look of the race with it being a mobile for young horses over 2200. Sheās copped a wide draw but sheās a nice trotter with good manners and I think sheāll be in the thick of it.ā
