Aroha Kenny (Love You) looks to be a genuine chance for the ‘Ace of Hearts’ to be run on December 2nd at harness racing headquarters Addington Raceway.
The two year old filly won her first race at Ascot Park today (Oct. 23), comprehensively beating a good field of maiden trotters by seven and a half lengths.

“She’s got a bit of quality about her and went really well. She’s a good all-round filly with good manners. You’re halfway there when you’ve got that combination,” trainer Phil Williamson said.
The winning time of 2-48.6 establishes a new track record for two year old trotting fillies who rarely race over this distance.
Aroha Kenny was driven by Phil’s son Matthew and is owned by Phil’s wife Bev. Kenny’s Charm (Muscle Mass) who was having her first start for Williamson and is also owned by Bev, ran second.
“I don’t want to race the one win grade and I don’t think she (Aroha Kenny) needs too much more working toward that race ($100,000 ‘Ace of Hearts’). We may just give her a trial. When they’re two they naturally run so we wouldn’t need to do too much. She could develop into a pretty nice horse one day.”
With horses like High Energy, Shez Bella, Regal Girl and Luby Lill the Ace of Hearts is going to be a very competitive race come December.
“Obviously Mark and Hayden’s filly (High Energy) has set the benchmark and will be hard to beat but my filly will be in with a chance.”
Phil said they’ve had some offers for Aroha Kenny but she remains unsold for the time being.
“Bev always says we should sell. I like hanging onto the assets and Bev likes selling them for good money. When they’re fillies it’s tempting to keep them because they’ve got more than race value.”
