Fitzthebill’s (Franco Ledger) upset win ($46.40) at Ashburton was the second harness racing winner for his deceased sire. From a very limited crop the Falcon Seelster stallion which stood at Macca Lodge in Southland left thirteen three year olds, three of which have qualified and two have now been race winners.
FITZTHEBILL REPLAY
Franco Ledger’s first winner Justalittlesip won at Ascot Park for Ryal Bush trainer Peter Hunter in November last year before he headed to Australia where he won his first five starts.
Fitzthebill is trained by Andrew Faulks who trained another long shot in GTH Aveross who won the 2007 Four Year Old Diamond paying $81.70 and $20.10.

Winton breeders John and Katrina Price not only bred and sold Republican Party (Bettor’s Delight) the winner of the Sophomore at Ashburton today, but they also bred and sold After Party the dam of Sherlock, winner of the fifth heat of the Woodlands Stud Sires Stakes.
After Party (American Ideal) was sold to Nevele R Stud in 2017. She’s a full sister to Democrat Party the dam of Republican Party.
A great result for the Southern Bred Southern Reared brand.

Then two of Feiss’s four runners in the Woodlands Stud Sires Stakes Heat – Sherlock (Vincent) and With Style quinellaed the race.
“He’s (Sherlock) starting to realise what it’s about which is really exciting. I think he’ll go on to make a nice three year old,” Feiss said.
