CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – Harness racing driver David Dowling made a clean sweep of the featured pace and trot Thursday evening (Oct. 27) at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
The Springvale driver teamed up with Tobins Brownie (Stonebridge Terror) from his own barn for a front-end victory in 1:55 in the $3,200 Fillies and Mares Preferred pace at 7-1 odds. She took on all comers for the win over Ladylike (Driven by Corey MacPherson) while race favourite Dreamfair Zenfire (Marc Campbell) was third. Brittany Watts shares ownership of the winning mare with Sandra Weeks and Errol Burgoyne.
Dowling also captured the $2,800 Open Trot with the favored Jessiejesorjessica (Justice Hall) for a 1:59 clock stopping performance. Jennifer Doyle handles the training duties for co-owner Danny Birt of Earnscliffe. Mile Hill Willie (MacPherson) finished second ahead of Freddie (Walter Cheverie).
Driver Adam Merner had no chinks in his armor for three straight races early on the program. The Charlottetown pilot won race 3 with Checkers Pride (Source Of Pride, 1:58.2) for his partner trainer Melissa Rennie, then captured race 4 with Mile Hill Dream (Armbro Barrister, 2:05.2) in the $3,200 All Star Cresting Prospect Trot Series from the Paul Morrison barn. Race 5 was another Merner driven victory as he steered Shes Rockandfame (Hes Watching) to a 1:58.4 mile for trainer Mike Dowling.
Campbell won another trio of dashes to continue his driving dash lead with Mds Girl (Pang Shui, 1:58.2) for Keith Ford and with Southwind Arturo (Muscle Hill, 2:01.3) and The Lady Sheriff (Southwind Lynx, 1:57.1), both from his own barn.
Incredible Two (Angus Hall) was placed victorious in the $3,500 Island Oceans Trot Series Grassroots division in 1:59.4 for trainer-driver Kenny Arsenault and owner Wade Peconi of Stanchel.
