It has been a hard race for Australian’s to grab hold of but harness racing trainer Jason Grimson is confident in his charge at the New Zealand Cup.

Grimson has his Art Major gelding Majestic Cruiser in tomorrow’s (Nov. 8) edition of the time-honoured feature and despite a few things working against the $15 chance, the gun horseman feels he has his pacer spot on for the test.

One challenge Majestic Cruiser faces is that this will be his first race attempt at a standing start.

Also, Majestic Cruiser has been unplaced in his two starts this preparation since winning The Blacks A Fake Championship in July.

However, Grimson knows what it takes to upset the Kiwi’s have done so with Majestic Cruiser in last April’s NZ Messenger.

“He has settled on really well and it probably picks him up more when he goes to a new environment,” said Grimson.

“I’m staying at Mark Jones’ property which is unreal compared to what’s at home and he’s looked after me and the horse so well.

“I took Majestic Cruiser to Addington on Saturday morning and he felt awesome in work.

“I stood him up a few times after I worked him and he felt bombproof away.”

Majestic Cruiser will be driven by top New South Wales reinsman Cameron Hart, one of the youngest drivers to compete in tomorrow’s NZ Cup at the age of 23.

Hart drove Majestic Cruiser when qualifying from a standing start at Menangle on October 11 and has won eight races with him.

Grimson and Hart have combined to win three Group 1 races together this year.
