CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – Mantario (Sportswriter) used every inch of racetrack to his advantage as he battled his way to harness racing victory in the Sunday (Nov 13) afternoon featured pace at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
Under the command of David Dowling, Mantario got away third as the post time favourite in the $3,500 Preferred pace and bided his time as Spicey P (Driven by Jason Hughes) paced to the lead from post 5. Spicey P laid down splits of 28.1 and 57.1 over a wet track rated two-seconds off. Mantario made his move headed to the three-quarters of 1:27.1 as he advanced first-over with Burn Out Hanover (Gilles Barrieau) taking the cover on his back. The final station saw Mantario edge his way past Spicey P heading into the stretch then barely fight off a hard closing Stash It Away (Marc Campbell) to win in 1:56.3.

The duo of Doyle and Birt have recorded more wins than any other owner this season at Red Shores Charlottetown including the last four Preferred events at the capital track.
Mr Rielly won the $2,900 back-up class in 1:56.3 for trainer-driver Corey MacPherson and owners Jim Gorman of South Melville and Darlene Compton of South Pinette.
