Miss Itunes (Mystery Chase) defeated the joint winners of the prior week’s top pace at Fraser Downs in the Monday (Nov. 14) renewal of the Fillies and Mares Open.
Scott Knight replicated his previous strategy, urging the mare to the lead in a :27.2 first panel. She breezed to the half in :58, and Knight popped the plugs as Century Mach (Kelly Hoerdt) and Moosette (Brandon Campbell), last week’s dead-heated winners, chased from the pocket and first-up, respectively.
Miss Itunes responded instantly and kicked away by two lengths on the final turn. The five-year-old cruised to victory from there, crossing the line under wraps in 1:53.2.
Century Mach held off Moosette for place.
MISS ITUNES REPLAY
Miss Itines has now won three of her past four starts, including a pair of Open contests. David Lamont, who co-owns the mare with Donna Wyse, handed the mare’s training to Christopher Lancaster when moving her to Fraser Downs in mid-October. Miss Itunes’s record is now 16-for-75 with a total bankroll of $173,543.
Fraser Downs will race next on Sunday, Nov. 20.
