Leading New South Wales female harness racing driver Amanda Turnbull has had a busy 24 hours.

The Bathurst horsewoman competed in a heat of the Inter Dominion last night (Nov. 29) at Shepparton, Victoria, with her pacer Bundoran (Lincoln Royal) and fronts up at Bathurst in NSW tonight (Nov. 30) for 10 drives.

Turnbull finished second in last night’s Inter Dominion heat with Bundoran adding to the female dominance in the pacing heats.

Remarkably, all pacing heats of the Inter Dominion so far this series have been won by female trainers.

Victorian horsewoman Emma Stewart has dominated the series winning four of the six heats with her pacers Act Now (Somebeachsomewhere), Mach Dan (Mach Three) and Honolua Bay (Somebeachsomewhere) winning twice.

Trainer Jess Tubbs added her name to the list when Better Eclipse (Betterthancheddar) won a heat at Ballarat last Saturday night. Tubbs also has two trotting heat wins to her credit with Just Believe (Orlando Vici).

Meanwhile, Sydney trainer Belinda McCarthy also added to the feat when winning a heat with Spirit Of St Louis (Sweet Lou) at Shepparton last night.

The ladies have also had strong results amongst the placings of this Inter Dominion series too.

Past female trainers to have won an Inter Dominion Grand Final include Natalie Rasmussen, Michelle Wallis and Lorraine Nolan.

Could this mean this year’s Inter Dominion Pacing Championship is won by a female-trained horse?

We will know more after the third round of heats at Geelong this Saturday night (Dec. 3).
