With four runners lining up, Leithfield Beach harness racing trainer Robbie Holmes will be hoping to travel home with a winner or two after the Forbury Park Trotting Clubs meeting on the grass at Wingatui on Friday (Dec. 2).
He has two trotters set to compete in the Milton Nightā N Day Trot, Race One.
Dragons Surprise (Majestic Son) draws the inside and will be handled by Sam Thornley.
āShe took a while to get organised and then she became quite solid in her gait. She ran a couple of thirds before we tipped her out. Sheās been in for a while now and itās time to go racing. She has made a couple of mistakes at the Methven trials and weāre heading south where we think it may be easier for her. Iām confident she can trot all the way now,ā Holmes said.Ā Ā
Sinner Cool (Sundon) has had four starts this prep and Holmes takes the drive on this three year old filly.
āSheās had three starts this time in. She raced at Kaikoura and got back a bit before sitting parked and ran home nice enough. At her last start she was third equal and that was a good run. Sheās on her game at the moment and Iām sure she can pop out of that grade pretty quickly. Iām expecting her to go a good race.ā
In Race Six the Brent Irving and Paul Thomson Handicap Trot, the talented but inconsistent Light Of Da Moon (One Over Da Moon) starts from the 10 metre handicap.
āSheās had a couple of runs back this time in and her last start was creditable. Most of the owners are in Otago so itās nice to head down there and race for them. Sheāll enjoy the grass and has been on it before. Sheās good from the stand and shouldnāt be too far away at all.āĀ
In Race Nine the Caltex City North Trot, Holmes has MM Sunshine (Muscle Mass) down to run.Ā
āSheās only joined us recently. At her first start for us at Ashburton she found the line well over the mile and a half from a stand. Iām looking forward to seeing her go round. If itās wet that will suit her.ā
