Hf Et Call Home (Ameripan Gigolo) stunned the public with his first career harness racing win at the 36th time of asking in the opener at Century Mile on Friday (Dec. 2).
The 24-1 shot went full throttle to the quarter, breaking the beam four lengths up in :30.4. Driver Nathan Sobey then reined in the three-year-old gelding, giving him a much-needed second quarter breather as he broke the -22Ā°C breeze for the field to the half in 1:02.3.
Hf Number Five (David Kelly) attacked as they rounded through three-quarters in 1:33.4. Horses fired from all sides down the stretch, but Hf Et Call Home finished the job in 2:03 with three-quarters-of-a-length to spare over True Angel (Kelly Hoerdt).
Outlawkissmyclass (Jamie Gray) moved up late for place.
