Northfield, OH — Christmas came early for a pair of lucky harness racing gamblers at MGM Northfield Park as the signature low 14% takeout Pick-4 paid out to a single winner on back-to-back nights.
On Sunday (December 4), with no favorites winning, the wager paid off a cool $23,061 to the guest who correctly selected The Git Up ($28.80), Time To Dance ($30.00), Toodle’s Power ($15.20), and Lloyd’s All In ($16.40).
Things worked out a little differently on Monday (December 5), with the favorite Magical Muscle Man (Kurt Sugg, $3,40) winning in wire-to-wire fashion. The fireworks began in the second leg as Jason Thompson guided Spoiled Rockn through the passing lane after a ground-saving trip to a 1:55/1 victory.
A favorite would return in leg three, with Son Of Sona (Eric Tharps Jr.) making a move at the quarter pole and never looking back, winning by 5-1/2 lengths. The last leg would have fireworks of its own as Step On The Gas (Chris Lems), ended up being disqualified for interference giving the victory to Seaside Meditation (Eric Tharps Jr., $140.60), helping provide the Pick-4 with a $12,182 payoff.
MGM Northfield Park features several low 14% takeout wagers, including the $1 Pick-4, $1 Pick-5, 50-cent non-jackpot Pick-6, and 20-cent Super Hi-5.
Racing continues on a five-day-a-week schedule at MGM Northfield Park through the end of the year. Currently racing Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, with a first post at 6:40 p.m.
