CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – The upsets continued for harness racing driver Corey MacPherson on Sunday (Dec 11) afternoon as he captured the featured pace at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
The Cornwal driver had four winners on the day for the grand slam including the $3,500 Preferred Pace with Screen Test (Vertical Horizon) at 6-1 odds.
Newcomer Matticulous GB was the post time favourite as driver Gilles Barrieau marched the Colin Johnson trainee through splits of 28.4, 57.1 and 1:26.2.
Screen Test left well off the rail for the two-hole ride behind the bettor’s choice and shook loose in the stretch to win by one-and-a-half lengths in 1:55.3. Moonwriter (Keith Ford) closed up for second ahead with Matticulous GB completing the $557.70 triactor. Ron Gass handles the training duties of Screen Test for owners William Andrew of Calgary, Alta., and Kickin Horse Stable of York.

MacPherson also won with Brookdale Jim (1:59.1) for trainer Phil Sizer and with the Duane MacEachern trained pair of Ironside Seelster (1:57) and Azure Beach (1:59.3).
Veteran trainer-driver Kenny Arsenault had a pair of wins from his Charlottetown stable with Hippyjohn (1:57.2) and JK Last Chance (1:56.2).
Blood Money (Sweet Lou) was the fastest winner of the day as he scorched the $3,150 Preferred 2 Pace in 1:54.4 for trainer-driver Marc Campbell. The clocking tied Sock It Away’s Island record for fastest ever mile in the month of December.
