Live harness racing continues on Boxing Day at Woodbine Mohawk Park Monday (Dec. 26) with two stake race final that are on the docket.

Race 2: Niagara Final– 3-year-old Fillies (N/W $60,000 lifetime as of October 31st, 2022)

The ladies are up first as they battle for their share of $31,800. The morning-line favourite in the field of eight is Acrimony (A Rocknroll Dance). She has won three out of her last four starts. Her last win came during the first leg of the Niagara Stakes. Acrimony paced the mile in 1:53.2 which earned her a new lifetime mark. She has gotten some rest after being scratched in the second leg by the judges’ decision.

Another filly to circle in the program is Baby Bonita (Sunshine Beach). Her last win came back on October 21st, and she also earned herself a new lifetime mark of 1:53.4. Baby Bonita has collected three silver medals in her last four starts, but she will certainly look to book another appointment for the winner’s circle.

Race 9: Valedictory Final: 3-year-old Colts & Geldings (N/W $60,000 lifetime as of October 31st, 2022)

A field of six colts and geldings will battle over the purse of $33,400. Currently sitting at 2-1 morning line odds is Unsung Hero (Always B Miki) and he also drew the inside rail position. The young gelding won both his last races which were the first and second leg of the Valedictory event. Both times he paced the mile in 1:51.1 which is one-fifth of a second shy of his lifetime mark.

JK Miki Mantle (Always B Miki) heads into the race at morning line odds of 5-2. He only participated in the second leg of the event, but his second-place finish was enough to earn him a spot in the final. JK Miki Mantle has the lifetime mark of 1:51.2 and he will be looking for his fifth career win.

One another entrant to look out for is Camara Moment (Control The Moment). His last time out was not overly impressive but if you ignore that last race, he had won four of his previous seven starts. Camara Moment has the lifetime mark of 1:50.4 and will be hungry for more on Boxing Day.

Racing takes place during the afternoon instead of evening racing for Boxing Day at Mohawk Park with first race post time being at 1:00 p.m.
