Harness racing hits Westport again today with eight races on the card. The racing starts at 12:40pm and we highlight some specials and value runners we think can give you a run for your money on a good afternoon of racing.

Best Bet:  R7   Homebush Lad

Best Value:  R2    Rose Isle

Race 1

Style Council (3) Ran on wide at Methven and big improver this time in. Needed
Tyke (8) Slow build up at the trials for this. Has raced well fresh in the past. Include
Nadira Franco (4) Manners usually good. Could surprise at longer odds with luck

Race 2

Rose Isle (1) Has put in some honest runs when she steps cleanly. Can run a cheeky race
Rakero Warrior (5) Has the form on the board and logical favourite. Can run top three
Alforbet (6) Big run fresh but disappointing last start. Good winning claims with manners

Race 3

Dannemora (7) Has taken on some good fields in the past and looks a good chance in this
Alexis Rocket (11) Manners not great but has the ability to test this field. Winning claims
Songbird (4) Has won here in the past and freshened for this race. Not the worst

Race 4

Vicky Maree (9) Weaker field and has been running ok at trials and workouts. Include
Philadelphia Filly  (8) Improver after last start second. Big chance with luck in this
Nine Mile Max (5) No form but has been ok at trials. One for longer odds in this field

Race 5

Star Casino (3) Stable goes well on the circuit and speedy pacer. Winning claims
Aiming For Glory (6) Tidy win on grass last start. Looks one of the hardest to beat
Dennis Denuto (5) Has gate speed and looks the likely leader. Can stick on for a place

Race 6

Melania (2) Goes well on grass and placed here last year.  Should run well in this
I’m Your Huckleberry (1) Good beginner who is a major player in this field. Needed
Maybe (10) Gets into this race ok and grass should suit. One for longer odds here

Race 7

Homebush Lad (7) Has form on the track and distance suits. Looks very hard to beat in this
Cloudy Bay (5) Nice run last start and grass form good. Good staying mare who can go close
Jimmy Arma (2) Grass and distance stats point to a good showing in this. Include

Race 8

Ginas Majesty (2) Building up some form again and honest enough. Has claims here
It’s So Easy (8) Disappointing the last couple but well placed in this. Needed here
Eurokash (9) Good win last start and should go on with it in this. Winning claims
