It was unseasonably warm at 62 and the track was fast, as was Sweet Mr Pinetucky (Pinetucky) as he wired the field in a romp to capture the $18,000 featured harness racing trot at Miami Valley Raceway Tuesday, January 3, 2023.
The 11th race saw 10 starters on the track and fastest off the gate from post five was the 5-1 Sweet Mr Pinetucky and driver Trace Tetrick. With Illini Earl (Sam Widgerqua) grabbed the two-hole trip as they went by the first quarter in :27.4.
They continued to race single file past the half mile in :57 with Sweet Mr Pinetucky holding the field at bay. By the three-quarters he was up by two lengths in 1:24.3 with no one able to challenge him.
Leading by four lengths at the top of the stretch, Sweet Mr Pinetucky and Tetrick kept it going down the stretch, winning by four and one-quarter lengths in 1:54. Pocket-sitting Illni Earl was second with the race favorite Shine All The Way (Josh Sutton) third.
