Gigondas (Trixton) earned his first win in more than 15 months – and first in Canada – in an overnight harness racing event at Woodbine Mohawk Park on Monday (Jan. 9).

The gelding, a Kentucky Sire Stakes competitor for the past two years, stretched his legs to reach the front in his four-year-old debut. He drove on to take control in the second quarter for Doug McNair and held off pocket-sitter Dealin With Dewey (Louis-Philippe Roy) to secure victory in 1:55.3.

It was his first victory since Oct. 1, 2021; he went winless in his three-year-old year through 18 starts. The gelding, who is now in the Richard Moreau barn after spending his entire career with Tony Alagna, was making his seasonal debut on Monday. He had raced at Mohawk the week prior and in June, competing then in the Goodtimes. Brad Grant of Milton owns the gelding.
The win was one quarter of a four-win evening for Moreau.
Action returns to Woodbine Mohawk Park on Thursday, Jan. 12 at 7:00 p.m. EST.
