Icy Blue Scooter (Blue Burner) won for the first time since August in a late-charging harness racing victory to take the Preferred at Century Mile on Saturday (Jan. 14).
After sitting fifth through the opening half mile, Nathan Sobey put the gelding on the back of first-over Outlaw Gunzablazin (David Kelly). The leaders held firm into the final eighth of a mile, but Icy Blue Scooter kicked in on the outside and rolled by them to score in 1:53.2. Whiplash Smile (Tyler Miller) was a length-and-three-quarters back in second. Shark Week (Michael Hennessy) finished third.
