Miami Valley Raceway hosted the $22,500 Final of the Claim To Fame Series for Fillies and Mares Tuesday, January 24 with She’s Magical (Rockin Image) providing all the harness racing excitement.
The 10th race feature for $12,500 claimers was raced over a good track with a one-second allowance from the judges. The start of the race saw Satdnite Jukebox (Chris Page) go right to the early lead from post two, cutting the mile to the opening quarter in :27.3 with My Lady Peg (Dan Noble) sitting the two-hole trip and She’s Magical and driver Sam Widger racing in third.
They continued pretty much single file to the half mile in :56 and once in the backstretch was when Widger made his move with She’s Magical, rushing up and taking the lead away from Satdnite Jukebox and then facing a first-over challenge by D Gs Elsa (Tyler Smith) to the three-quarters in 1:24.3.
She’s Magical had no trouble fending off D Gs Elsa by the top of the stretch and then dug in for the stretch drive, pulling away at the finish to win by two and three-quarter lengths in 1:54.3. Satdnite Jukebox was second with My Lady Peg third.
SHE’S MAGICAL REPLAY
It was the second win in three starts this year for She’s Magical. The four-year-old mare is trained by Walter Haynes, Jr. for owner Maynard Miller. She paid $10.40 to win.
