Get Up N Dance (Rock N Roll Heaven) despite hanging at the finish, did enough to win the $15,000 Temuka Transport Waikouaiti Pacers Cup at the Oamaru harness racing track today (Feb. 5).
The five year old which was driven his former trainer Nathan Williamson settled well off the pace early but was carted into the race inside the last 800 metres on the back of favourite Got You Covered (Art Major) before they both knuckled down to fight out the finish close to the line. Get Up N Dance just got a slight advantage on the line beating Got You Covered by a nose.
āI thought he got there on TV. His headās bigger that the other ones. Heās a strange horse because you have to have him hanging like that otherwise heās no good when heās running out. Thatās the way he goes best,ā said trainer Bob Butt.
Bred by Dale and Kaye Kinzett of Oamaru, Get Up N Dance qualified and won five races for Williamson before being transferred to Bob Butts Woodend Beach stable where heās now won a further two races.
āNath just sent him here because the last time he brought him up and stayed at Reganās (Todd) he ran some good races coming off the beach. There are plenty of good races up here in Canterbury for him over the summer especially the Country Cups.ā
GET UP N DANCE REPLAY
Butt said the $100,000 Country Championship at Addington on the 12th May will be the horseās long term goal.
āHe beat a nice horse in Got You Covered today and a couple of years ago on Show Day he ran 3-07 over 2600 so heās got a big motor. Hopefully we can have him cherry ripe for that race.ā
Ā Get Up N Danceās half brother Rise Up N Dance (ArtĀ Major) was an impressive winner at Addington on Friday night for Williamson and looks like a Southern Supremacy Stakes candidate.
The win took Williamson close to 1000. He now sits on 996 going into Addington on Friday night and the Riverton Trotting Club meeting at Ascot Park on Sunday.
