A terrific harness racing field has assembled for Friday’s $50,000 The Laurie Kennedy (1730m) at Gloucester Park, the feature event on the nine-race card.
In-form mare Nevermindthechaos (Sportswriter), who will be out to make it four straight wins this week, has a tricky challenge to overcome from barrier 12.
The Michael Young-trained mare beat a similar field of mares at Free-For-All level on January 27 to stamp herself as one of the key chances this week.
Gary Hall Jnr will drive the Nevermindthechaos.
Young will also be represented by Im Themightylucy (Sweet Lou) in the Group 3 event.
The Laurie Kennedy will also see the return of exciting mare The Amber Hare, who has drawn alongside Nevermindthechaos in barrier 11.
The Amber Hare finished fourth in the Mares Classic (2536m), before a she finished a game fifth in the Golden Nugget (2536m) on December 16.
Sheez Our Hope also makes her return in the Laurie Kennedy, having not started for almost 11 months.
The Michael Cornwall-trained mare looks set to get a soft run on return from barrier 10.
Elsewhere, Sangue Reale will be looking to continue his strong run of form in the Barbagallo Land Rover Pace (2536m) for the Free-For-All pacers.
The Chris Voak-trained gelding finished fifth in his most recent outing in the WA Pacing Cup and looks well placed to bounce back this week from barrier one.
Handsandwheels, who won for the first time in almost three years last week, has drawn barrier two and is set to be one of the key players in the race.
Hall Jnr drove Glenledi Chief to finish second in the Media Guild Cup last week and will team up with him again from barrier four on Friday.
Friday night will also see the return of last year’s Western Gateway (2536m) placegetter Street Hawk in the Barbagallo Pace (2130m).
