Cream Ridge, NJ – 2/12/2023 – Harness racing horses Battler, and Practices Action have a deserving and dignified life ahead. Both were headed to slaughter when the Standardbred Retirement Foundation, (SRF) saved their lives from such a horrific end. After quarantine and rehabilitation, then some training, these two guys won the honors. They both have SRF’s donors to thanks. They certainly would if they could.
Battler, barely 16 hands, will spend many months of training before he trots the streets of the Big Apple with his other SRF friends. Practices Action, 17 hands of complete calm, is ready to conquer his canter then will be tasked with teaching the cadets how to ride.
This wonderful breed offers so much, they can cuddle kids, chase bandits, warm the hearts of their adopters, and can also bring home colorful ribbons. Thanks to SRF’s supporters’ stories like these happen.
SRF has 512 trotters and pacers under its care and expense today. Ninety seven percent of its funds to save and support these noble horses comes from donors and fund raisers.
