In the harness racing trotting stallions’ market, it is possible to find names that at a first evaluation seem almost insignificant but, in reality, if analyzed carefully especially under the genealogical aspect, can give the breeding an imprint of absolute thickness and refined quality.
In this article, we will examine three stallions (In Range, Green Manalishi and Creatine), trying to deepen the image they have in the European market and, going into their respective genealogical profiles, we will try to understand the importance they can have interior of European breeding today.
The first of the previously mentioned stallions, In Range, is a son of the deceased Bar Hopping and Ilia (Windsong’s Legacy) therefore he is the uterine brother of Long Tom (Muscle Hill), a stallion already appreciated in the United States thanks, among others, to the presence in his production by C S Irene and by Twish both winners of their respective divisions of the Buckeye Stallion Series at Scioto Downs last year.
Interesting for European and above all Italian breeding is the In Range maternal line which leads back to Windsong’s Legacy in turn sire of the Italian stallion Nad Al Sheba while looking at the same pedigree from a broader perspective, it is possible to say that Windsong’s Legacy is the sire of Chapter Seven, an internationally renowned stallion also the sire of the well-known Walner.
Said of the In Range maternal line, the blood of his father Bar Hopping also flows in his veins, unfortunately prematurely deceased but capable of leaving a great imprint on international breeding in his young career as a reproducer.
Green Manalishi is the other stallion that we wrote above on which we focus now: the sire is the American top sire Muscle Hill on which it would be superfluous to stop and discuss since it is the one who has been “the stallion” for some years now world par excellence.
The maternal line of Green Manalishi is of considerable technical prestige: the mother in fact is called Naga Morich and is a daughter of Enjoy Lavec and Dame Lavec (Quito De Talonay). Therefore, it is possible to find the precious blood of Pine Chip as father of Enjoy Lavec but also the phenomenal Speedy Crown plays a thick role in the pedigree of Green Manalishi being present in the dam of Enjoy Lavec (Margit Lobell) and being the sire of Kit Lobell, the latter dam of Dame Lavec.
Of course, the must-have Speedy Crown is also present in Green Manalishi’s maternal line through Muscle Yankee, sire of Muscle Hill. Who knows if Green Manalishi will be able to pass on the goodness of his blood to his children, he certainly also has the possibility of transmitting his athletic skills having been the author of a competitive career that began early and this is a quality not to be overlooked for example for the market Italian, where foals are required to be ready early for the start of their racing career.
In fact, Green Manalishi was able to finish second in the Peter Haughton Memorial and win, among other races, the William Wellwood and an elimination round at the Hambletonian.
The third and last stallion we are dealing with in this article is Creatine: looking at the European market from within, it is difficult to give an explanation for the fact that until now Creatine has not enjoyed the utmost trust from breeders.
His genealogy is one of the very interesting ones which cross well with the European mares: Creatine’s sire is Andover Hall while his dam is the American Berry Nice Muscles a daughter of Muscle Yankee and Blackberry Hanover (Donerail), therefore a line very solid and precious feminine.
Creatine has repeatedly challenged its production and has done so at excellent levels. In fact, you don’t need to go far back in memory to find some of his really important sons: the best known is perhaps the American Jujubee, author of an exalted career at the highest levels. Indeed, Jujubee won the $561,000 KY Futurity and trotted a truly fiery mile at the Meadowlands in a Muscle Hill split where he stopped the clock on a prized 1.49.4.
But Jujubee is not only that which would already be a lot, but he is also the winner of the Phil Langley Memorial and also the Breeders Crown Final. Another subject of American origin but capable of behaving well also in Europe is Asteroid, also a son of Creatine and, like Jujubee, son of an excellent mother. In fact, Asteroid’s mother is Ultimate Cameron (Yankee Glide) who has an important Cameron Hall (Garland Lobell) in the maternal line.
Even Asteroid, which in America was forged by Per Engblom before entering Europe, has an interesting curriculum: he took to the track 25 times, winning 13 races and putting together 1,758,633 SEK and a record 1.10.7. In short, Creatine also has all the credentials to be interesting for European farmers as well and the data confirm this.
