Former Victorian-based harness racing driver Olivia Weidenbach is making the most of her recent move to Tasmania.
Olivia, 21, is the daughter of well known Victorian participants Paul and Rosie Weidenbach and was previously based with the Yole stable for most of 2019.
She returned to her home state before venturing back across Bass Strait late last year.
“Ben and I had been talking about a management opportunity with his stable for a while, which includes running his social media pages.
A weekend double from Olivia saw Tasracing’s contribution to the current Team Teal campaign reach $3,400.
“It’s awesome to get a few winners for Team Teal, and I would love to be an ambassador one day,” said Olivia.
Endeavour Stride (Art Major, $2.50 Fav) was her first win of the weekend when the Ben Yole-trained pacer scored in the opening race in Hobart on Friday.
“He got to the front, and I thought if he could get there, he would be unbeatable,” said the driver.
Somedan ($4.80) completed the double in Launceston when he won his 25th race.
“He is one of my favourites,” said Olivia.
“He has been going well the last couple of weeks.
“When I got to the front and got a 32.1 (second) quarter, he was always going to be a fair chance.
Olivia has driven six winners this season, and she hopes to add to that tally during the Team Teal promotion that ends on 15 March.
