Canterbury harness racing horseman Regan Todd has two quality runners entered for Saturday’s Wyndham meeting at the Young Quinn Raceway.

Play Philly (Art Major) has been building on her formline and looks to be one of the leading chances in the SSBA/Vet South Equine Southern Belle Heat. She ran a tidy third at the Riverton meeting earlier in the month and should be improved with the run.

“After her last run we just left her down there with Craig Ferguson. I was talking to him this morning and he seems quite happy with her. It’s a small field again and hopefully she gets a better trip. She just got a bit far back at her last start,” Todd said.

Play Philly’s main danger will be quality mare Folklore, (Sportswriter) and the much improved Tayla Me, (American Ideal) which is trained by Brent McIntyre.

Treacherous Gall (Captaintreacherous) returns to the south and lines up in a small but quality field in the Southern Oaks Heat for three year old fillies. She carries the highest rating in the field of seven and draws the outside gate in the 1609 metre dash.

“I’ve been quite happy with her. She will improve with the outing because she’s only had one trial this prep. She did work really good this morning. We’ll drive her conservatively this week and if she runs on we’ll be happy. She’ll run in another heat down there and hopefully we can get her qualified for the final.”

Treacherous Gall is owned by two local breeders, Dave Kennedy and Cleland Murdoch, and she won her first two races in the south as a two year old.

Sweet Diamond (Sweet Lou) which won the Oamaru heat last week, Beach Day (Sunshine Beach) and Betta Watch Out, (He’s Watching) look to be Treacherous Gall’s main rivals in the race.
