For the second straight week, The Mighty Hill (What The Hill) has been supreme in the $30,000 Open Handicap Trot at Miami Valley Raceway. On Wednesday (March 22) the harness racing four-year-old harness racing gelding wired the field.

The Mighty Hill and driver Trevor Smith in prior win

Leaving from post five in the 11th race feature, The Mighty Hill and driver Trevor Smith was on top by one and one-half lengths by the opening quarter mile in :28. Sitting right on their back was Sweet Mr Pinetucky (Trace Tetrick).

As they reached the half mile marker in :57.3, The Mighty Hill was in command as Fawn De Touch (Tony Hall) came first-over from fourth place to challenge.

Fawn De Touch was able to advance to second place on the outside with Dontforgetlittlman (Dan Noble) following the outside flow. Meanwhile The Mighty Hill was in control of the temp past the three-quarters in 1:22.2.

As they started down the long stretch, The Mighty Hill still had plenty in the tank and cruised to a two and three-quarter length triumph in 1:53.3. Fawn De Touch was second with Sweet Mr Pinetucky third.

THE MIGHTY HILL REPLAY

It was not just the second straight win for The Mighty Hill, but his fifth win in eight starts this season for trainer Jeff Smith and the Bet The House, LLC. He paid $2.80 to win as the wagering favorite.

In 31 career starts, The Mighty Hill now sports 11 wins, five seconds and two third place finishes with lifetime earnings of $373,005.
