Captaintreacherous sweeps Group Ones at Bathurst

Harness racing sire Captaintreacherous made it a clean sweep of the Group One finals tonight when Chart Topper led all the way in the hands of Amanda Turnbull to upset the hot favourite Timmy Rictor in the $150,000 Gold Crown Final (Gr1) at Bathurst.

Turnbull drove the Nathan Jack trained Chart Topper confidently to the front from the dispatch and when the favourite Timmy Rictor got well back in the running with a lap to go, the result was never in doubt.

Timmy Rictor was massive in defeat after racing wide from the 800m, he made up good ground late to finish second and outsider Maurlen Boy finished on for third.

Chart Topper ran the 1730m distance in a 1:56.6 mile rate and took his record to 2 wins from three starts and earnings of over $75,000.

Earlier in the night Captaintreacherous sired the winner of the Group One Gold Tiara Final (Lux Aeterna) and also the Group Two Gold Chalice Final (Bainbridge)
