Harness racing mare So Frisky (Dali) captured the Fillies and Mares Preferred at The Raceway at the Western Fair District on Wednesday (Apr. 5) and increased her career earnings past a quarter of a million dollars.
She muscled to the front from post six in a hotly-contested first quarter, kicked away going onto the backstretch, and widened her gap on the last turn. Driver Colin Kelly eased up in mid-stretch, and the mare cruised to victory in 1:55.3.Ā Born A Dragon (Travis Cullen) swooped from fifth to second in the closing stages and narrowed the margin to two-and-a-half lengths. Saulsbrook Jessie (Brett MacDonald) was third.
SO FRISKY REPLAY
So Frisky has now won 32 times and has earned $253,053 in 113 starts. She also won the last time she entered the Fillies and Mares Preferred at London on Mar. 8 but missed a cheque in three straight outings at Woodbine Mohawk Park between now and then. Anita Ouellette trains the seven-year-old for Luc Ouellette Incorporated of Campbellville.
The Raceway at the Western Fair District will race next on Friday, Apr. 7 at 5:50 p.m. EDT.
