The harness racing favourites went zero-for-four in the first round of the Ontario-sired Spring Series for at Woodbine Mohawk Park on Thursday (Apr. 6).
All winners in the filly series opener went off at no less than 5-1. The entrants were limited to three-year-old pacing fillies that were non-winners of $30,000 last year.
Tesla Power (Betterthancheddar, Sylvain Filion) captured the first division for pacers in 1:55. She hunted down leader Oh Gouda (Doug McNair) and Chedda Chedda (Louis-Philippe Roy) in the stretch to take the victory and paid off $12. The latter nosed out the former for place.
Tesla Power, trained by Robert Kyle Fellows, is five-for-seven this year and six-for-eight lifetime. N. Yolanda Fellows of Rockwood co-owns her with Patrick Dillon and Patti Hoskin of Port Hope. The filly has earned $53,000 lifetime.

Dewitt This Moment (Control The Moment, McNair) took the second pacing division after brushing to the front in the second quarter. She held off a host of rivals down the lane to score in 1:55.2 sporting 6-1 odds. One-to-five favourite Elises Delight (James MacDonald) finished second with Dakota Shadow (Roy) alongside her in third.

Dewitt This Momentās win was her second lifetime in nine tries. She has earned $21,314 for owner/trainer Paul Ritchie of Mono.
Wifey Said So (Sunshine Beach, Travis Cullen) brought the biggest upset of the evening as she collared leader Lady Jess (Tyler Borth) from the pocket and blew up the toteboard at 25-1. The winning filly stopped the clock in 1:55.3 as she won the final division. Lady Jess finished second by a length. No Money Honey (Tyler Jones) was third.
WIFEY SAID SO REPLAY
Wifey Said So was winless in nine outings at two and was making her 2023 debut. The Jodie Cullen-trained sophomore has earned $19,802. Travis Cullen, Ronald Cullen, and Keith Hannah own the filly.
Match Meif You Can (Resolve, Matt Bax) went up the pylons from the pocket to defeat pacesetter Muscling Vegas (Paul MacDonell) in the sole trotting split. She got past the leader late to win by a half-length in 1:59 at 9-1. Hp Extra Ice (MacDonald) was a clear third.

The winner broke her maiden with the win. She is 10 starts into her career and has brought in $23,305. Bax trains the filly for owner/breeder Bax Stable of Campbellville, Marshall Bax of Hamilton, and the Peterborough-based Kenneth Andrews.
The second leg for the fillies is scheduled for Thursday, Apr. 13. The $40,000A final will race on Apr. 22. The male horses will begin their series on Friday, Apr. 7.
