British Columbia’s undisputed Free For All king Outlaw C My Shadow (Shadow Play) extended his reign to 10 consecutive harness racing victories with another open-length win in the Open Pace on Friday (Apr. 7) at Fraser Downs.
The gelding went forward to claim the front as usual and kept his opponents in a single-file line as he laid down the law from the front. He paced :27.3, :56.1, and 1:23.1 fractions for Brandon Campbell. Pocket-sitter Itll Be Fine (Kelly Hoerdt), much like the prior week, stuck with the leader into the stretch. But Outlaw C My Shadow again kicked away to win by four-and-a-quarter lengths in 1:51.4. Itll Be Fine finished second. Waitin Ona River (Kevin Anderson) was best of the rest.
OUTLAW C MY SHADOW REPLAY
Outlaw C My Shadow has now won 10 Opens in a row at Fraser Downs. He’s eight-for-eight this year for trainer Constance Kolthammer and owner Outlaw West Stable of Falun. The six-year-old has won 20 of his 90 lifetime starts and has earned $175,322.
Also on the card, three- and four-year-old colts and geldings contested the first round of the BC-bred Stake eliminations. Shake Shadow N Rol (Shadow Play, John Abbott) capitalized on a pocket trip to take the first division for trainer Randy Rutledge, who co-owns and co-bred the four-year-old gelding with Jennifer Dodsworth. Came A Cavalier (Hoerdt) was a length-and-a-half back in second. Oh Shut Up (Campbell) took the show spot over Billy Buxton (Robert Scrannage).
SHAKE SHADOW N ROL REPLAY
Domi (Living It Up, Campbell) flew away to a five-and-a-half-length score in the second split. The Jim Marino-trained sophomore increased his winning streak to four with the 1:56.3 victory. Marino shares ownership in the gelding with J J J Stables and Paul Sanders. My Little Gingerman (Dave Hudon) rallied from last to second. Son of A Beach (Abbott) edged out Speakdollarsncents (Hoerdt) for third.
