Down Under Winners from North America – 18th April

Let It Ride, a New Zealand bred harness racing gelding by Rock N Roll Heaven, shaved 0.2 off the Miami Valley track record he jointly held when he won his fourth straight race on Monday (April 10).

LET IT RIDE N REPLAY

After settling down in third position from the nine hole, Let It Ride moved upsides with the leader in the third stanza and eventually prevailed by a length. The gelding has won six of his 12 starts at the Ohio track this year and $US115,210 in stakes.

On the same card, another ex-Kiwi, Pat Stanley (Western Ideal) hoisted a fresh lifetime mark of 1:49.8 in a $12,000 race.

The Australian bred mares Lucky Artist (Artistic Fella) and Doug’s Babe (Western Terror) booked their spots in the $328,000 final of the Blue Chip Matchmaker with wins in the final preliminary rounds at Yonkers Raceway on Friday night (April 14).

Lucky Artist led home an Anzac trifecta in Mabelene NZ and Alta Madeira NZ in a seasonal best 1:51.4. The win increased her lifetime earnings to beyond $US500,000.

Doug’s Babe notched her third straight Matchmaker preliminary success with a 1:51.4 front end performance. It sent her stake earnings to above $US200,000.

The American Ideal mare American Tour NZ led from end-to-end for a decisive win in the $32,200 Step Up To The Plate Claiming Series final in 1:53.8 at Saratoga Raceway on Tuesday (April 11). She had earlier taken two legs of the Series.
