FREEHOLD, N.J.— Harness racing amateur driver Joe Lee got on base from post 8 with Cheyenne Ryan Lee (Roll With Joe) and rounded home a winner in the $9,000 American Harness Drivers Club (AHDC) Pace at Freehold Raceway on Friday afternoon (April 28).
Lee hustled Cheyenne Ryan Lee for the front to a :28.1 first quarter and kept Red Dirt Boomer (driven by Yogi Sheridan) parked on the rim. Red Dirt Boomer continued to press the leader through a :58.3 half, but the wide trip began wearing into him on the second circuit.
Big Bad Bill (Anthony Verruso) rounded faltering cover and marched uncovered after Cheyenne Ryan Lee to three-quarters in 1:27.4. But Lee already began scooting away to the top of the lane and coasted via the path of least resistance to a 3-1/4-length victory in 1:56.4. Manhattan Beach (Jim King Solomon) gave chase off a pocket trip to finish second while Big Bad Bill settled for third and Salvadors Sun (James Slendorn) took fourth.
Alexandra Goldin trains Cheyenne Ryan Lee, a 7-year-old gelding who paid $23.80 to win.
