Buckeye Stallion Series kicks off at Miami Valley

Grove City, OH –Five divisions of three-year-old filly harness racing trotters opened the first leg of the Buckeye Stallion Series Sunday, April 30 at Miami Valley Raceway.  Each division carried a purse of $20,000.

Pariso and driver Ron Gillespie had the fastest time on the first day of Buckeye Stallion Series action

Two-year-old BSS champ Doc’s Boo Boo (Downbytheseaside) with Jeff Nisonger began the defense of her crown by going gate-to-wire for trainer Mark Winters.  The filly trotted the mile in 1:58.3 to win for the second time in as many starts this year.  Doc’s Boo Boo has won $19,000 in her two wins.

DOC’S BOO BOO REPLAY

Ronnie Gillespie drove Pariso (Creatine) to the fastest time of the five divisions, winning in 1:58.  The Dalton Walls trainee took command at the three-quarter pole and never looked back winning for the second time in three starts.  The filly raised her earnings this year to $15,000.

PARISO REPLAY

In the first BSS race of the year, Crysta’s Legacy (Long Tom) and Tony Hall rallied down the stretch to edge Coupe Deville at the wire in 1:59.3.  It was the first win of the year for Crysta’s Legacy.

CRYSTA’S LEGACY REPLAY

Smokinhotirishgirl (Uncle Peter) and Anthony MacDonald grabbed the lead mid-stretch and drew away to win in 1:59.  Jason McGinnis trains the filly who also picked up her first win of the season.

SMOKINHOTIRISHGIRL REPLAY

In the final division, Dan Noble and Vandy’s Star (What The Hill) held on to win by a neck in the gate-to-wire victory.  Trained by Scott Cox, Vandy’s Star won for the first time this year in 2:00.3.

VANDY’S STAR REPLAY

Buckeye Stallion Series action continues Monday night at Miami Valley with GM Northfield Park with seven divisions of three-year-old filly pacers.  Each division will carry a purse of $20,000.
