Northfield, OH – Longshots were aplenty on Tuesday (May 2) at MGM Northfield Park, with a harness racing favorite only winning one of the four races in the Pick-4 sequence that began in Race 11.
Back In My Day (Kurt Sugg) kicked things off with a jaw-dropping performance, winning by 4-1/4 lengths in 1:55 after being parked the mile from post seven.
The last two legs of the Pick-4 featured monumental upsets, with 59/1 Parklane Knight (Eric Tharps Jr.) making up steady ground throughout the mile to get by Pound Sign (Chris Lems) late to win by a length in 1:54.3. Closing out the wager was Cherokees Gorgeous (Sugg) who was another who had to make up a lot of ground throughout the mile. He nailed Arthur Pendragon (Aaron Merriman) on the wire, winning by a neck in 1:57 and paying $40.80 to win.
The low 14% takeout early and late Pick-4 pools have become a staple at MGM Northfield Park. On Wednesday (May 3), regular players of the Northeast Ohio facility will have an opportunity at some significant value, as the early Pick-4 beginning in Race 2 will feature a carryover of $22,535.
Wednesday’s $1.00 early Pick-4 is estimated to have over $100,000 in the pool. Free past performances are available by clicking here.
