Abby Rose goes down the road at Tioga

Abby Rose (Heston Blue Chip) and harness racing driver Ridge Warren captured the $10,500 fillies & mares featured pace at Tioga Downs on Friday (May 12).

Vicious Circle (Wally Hennessey) got the first call but Abby Rose ($3.30) then took command and led to the quarter in :26.0.  She used a :28.2 second quarter to lead to the half in :54.2.  The mare started to open it up as she cruised to three-quarters in 1:22.4.

As they made the turn for home Pearl Harbour N (Mike Merton) found a late opening and came all out after the lead.  Abby Rose was too strong and equaled her lifetime mark of 1:52.1 in winning the feature by three-quarters of a length.  Peal Harbour N had to settle for second.  Vicious Circle was third best.

Abby Rose is a 5-year-old mare owned by Mali Norbye and trained by Randy Taft.  It was her second win this season.  She now owns 13 career victories.
