CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – Tracking her stablemate for the duration of the mile, Plain Jane (Shadow Play) got up for victory in the Thursday evening (May 25) harness racing feature at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
The wet night featured a three second variant on the track condition with Plain Jane converting a pocket trip to win the $3,300 Race 10 Fillies and Mares Preferred Pace in 1:59.1 for driver Corey MacPherson, trainer Marc Campbell and owners Leigh and Faith Gavin of Sea Cow Pond. Race favourite and stablemate Dreamfair Zenfire (Driven by Campbell) went to the lead through splits of 28.3, 58.3 and 1:29.3 but gave way late in the mile to fade to fifth while Plain Jane came off her back to win by a quarter-length at the finish over Ladylike (David Dowling) and Ill Tell Me Ma (Ken Murphy).

The $3,100 Open Trot featured a dead heat in the win column with Sailor Blue (Armbro Barrister, Murphy) and New Legacy (Father Patrick, Adam Merner) landing on the line together in 2:01.2 over third place Jessiejesorjessica (Gilles Barrieau) Jeff Holmes trains Sailor Blue for Cindy and Ambyr MacDonald and Yossi Martonovich of Montague while Colin Johnson handles the training duties of New Legacy for owners Debbie Element, Don MacNeill and Matt and David Burke.
SAILOR BLUE / NEW LEGACY REPLAY
Labero delivered the upset of the evening in race 6 winning the $2,300 Trot event in 2:03.4 at 18-1 odds for driver Barrieau and trainer Randy Van Meer.
Live racing continues Saturday evening at 6 P.M. at Red Shores Charlottetown and Sunday afternoon at 1 P.M. at Red Shores Summerside featuring the P.E.I. Colt Stakes for three-year-old colt and filly pacers.
