O’Brien and Dan Patch Award winner Sylvia Hanover (Always B Miki) made her seasonal harness racing debut on Saturday (May 27) at Woodbine Mohawk Park and rallied from sixth to first to score in her first race since her Breeders Crown victory.
Driver Bob McClure showed no urgency at the start and settled the filly into sixth. Shes Got It All (Sylvain Filion) set the :26.4 quarter, and Intothemysticmoon (Phil Hudon) took over to put up the half time of :55.2.
Sylvia Hanover moved outside and raced three-deep into the far turn, sitting sixth at three-quarters in 1:24.1. Fanning out widest, she kicked into gear at the top of the stretch and roared by all five opponents in front of her winningly to win in 1:51.1.
Trafalgar (Jody Jamieson) was next home and was beaten three-quarters of a length. Better Be Donna N (Jonathan Drury) finished third.

Sylvia Hanover is now nine-for-10 lifetime with $914,300 in earnings. Last year, she earned two-year-old pacing filly of the year honours in the U.S. and Canada with wins in the Whenyouwishuponastar, Champlain, She’s A Great Lady, and Breeders Crown. Hudson Standardbred Stable of Hudson owns the three-year-old; David Drew harnessed her to victory tonight.
The Ontario Sires Stakes Gold series begins on Monday, May 29 at Woodbine Mohawk Park with the first leg for three-year-old trotting males.
